Kanna, (also known as Kougoed and Channa), is a succulent native to South Africa that has traditionally been used as a mood lifter and euphoriant. It was commonly used by hunter gatherers, all the way back from prehistoric times.

It's name translates to 'something to chew', signifying it's traditional method of consumption. The plant has also been used as a smokeable substance, as well as a snuff in its powdered form.

Kanna is still widely used today for its effects. It has been used as an antidepressant, relieving stress and anxiety for many of it users.
